HOLDING YOUR BREATH AND SWIMMING UNDER WATER IS NOT SWIMMING.
DOGGY PADDLE IS NOT SWIMMING.

Please refer to the LEARN TO SWIM page for description and schedule.

WHAT IS STROKE TEAM:

STROKE TEAM is a year round continuation of our LEARN TO SWIM program & introduction to the TSUNAMI swim team. STROKE TEAM is designed to develop your child’s swimming endurance, as well as, refining stroke technique.

Even though your child may feel comfortable in a swimming pool environment, they need to develop muscle strength and lung capacity.

What would happen if they fell out of a motor boat,  sailboat, surfboard, kayak, tube on a river, paddle board?  Fell off a dock, river bank, or caught up in a heavy surf?  Could they swim to safety?

Stroke Team is offered year round & is a non-competitive segue to the sport of swimming & the Sarasota Tsunami Swim Team. While your child is developing their swimming skills, they may decide that swimming is the sport they love. AND we would love to have them be part of our team.

Stroke Team is our entry level group with swimmers usually graduating in from Learn to Swim lessons.  Ages 5 + years old
(Children 9 + years refer to the Tsunami team page-Varsity team)

1. Each young swimmer should be able to swim 25 yards (1 lap), on their stomach and back with crawl stroke and be able to put their faces in the water. NO DOGGY PADDLE.

2. They must also be able to swim on the surface of the water, not under water only.

3. Swimmers must be able to swim in water that is over their heads.

Stroke Team practices in the teaching pool, with practice extended to the competition pool and deep water.

This group practices twice each week for one hour.
