Thirty-Two Tsunami survived the drenching
rain and gusting wind of Tropical Storm Debby to
compete under blue skies and soaring temperatures at the 2012
Sarasota YMCA Shark Open.
It is important to note that the team is almost double the size
since the 2011 Open; congratulations
and thanks to all that have help make this vigorous growth
happen!
Making long course FLAGS (Florida Age Group Championship) cuts
were; Heaven Bazo (50
back, 100 breast); Gavin Bloch (200 & 800 free, 200 IM, 50
back, 50 fly); Jared Repassy (100 &
200 free, 50 breast, 100 back); Jillian Santiago (800 free);
Olivia Schwartz (200 free, 200 IM, 100
back, 50 fly) and T.C. Smith (100 fly).
Making long course senior cuts (FLSR – Florida Senior
Champs; SZSS – Southern Zone
Sectionals; SZBN – Southern Zone Sectional Bonus Cut) were;
Lauren Erickson (FLSR – 100 free,
SZBN – 200 IM, 100 fly, 100 breast); Karl Hegwein (SZBN
– 50, 100 & 800 free); Will Kazokas
(SZSS – 100 breast); Jillian Santiago (FLSR – 200
free); T.C. Smith (SZBN – 800 free); George
Sirianos (SZSS – 100 free).
Tsunami swimmers finishing in the top 8 of their events were;

Swimming all 100% best times were; Alex Anacki, Lauren Erickson,
Ayla Gordon, Victoria Graham, Jace Hay-Birkett, Taylor Malin,
Kenneth Perren, Chance Phillips, Jared Repassy, Hunter Reynolds,
Olivia Schwartz, and Luke Shackelford.
In addition to all of the above, numerous Tsunami long course
records were reset or broken.
