TSUNAMI HITS AT YMCA POOL!

Unbelievable morning for the Tsunami Swim Team.  All five competitors swam lifetime bests.  All five competitors broke team records.  Like a great giant wave they are on a roll that cannot be stopped.

Olivia Schwartz, 10 yrs., swam her only event dropping not only her 100 breast by 3 seconds, she also went her best 50 breast by over a second.  Her time of 1:29.80 is a new team record.  Olivia went from 34th seed to finish 26th.

Jared Repassy, 10 yrs., swimming in his first FLAGS swam to a 15th place finish in the 200 y. free with a new team record of 2:23.14.  He also swam a best time in the 100 free on his split in the 200 race.  This was a 7 second drop in time. He followed that up with a best time in the 100 Individual Medley, 1:19.25, going from 30th place to 20th.

Jillian Santiago, 11 yrs., swam to a new best time and team record in the 200 y. free, her 2:01.11 qualified her 9th and gives her a swim in the top 16 tonight.  Jillian is the only 11 yr. old to score in this event.

TC Smith, 12 yrs., following up last nights swim in the 1000 y. free with a 4th place qualifying spot in the 200 y. free. TC swam a new team record of 1:57.67, a 3 second drop from his previous best and swam a lifetime best 57.4 as his split.

Vinny Lijoi, 14 yrs., swam the event he just recently qualified for, the 200 yd. breaststroke.  Vinny swam a much smarter race this time, went out conservatively and dropped his time to a 2:38.29.

Just one of those mornings coaches dream about, Instant best swims...just add water, as long as you don't count the hours, days, weeks and months these young athletes worked for these payoffs.

Finals begin tonight at 5:30 at the YMCA.  Racing continues for two more days with prelims beginning at 9 am each day.  Come on down and support our swimmers.
